Bathing Ape:

a bathing ape

Official Site

This is the "Bathing Ape" real or fake page.

Please if you find this site useful, or want it to grow; DONATE! Cash makes it possible for me to keep this site online. Second it gives me the opportunity to buy fake items to make better pictures of these items and to show all of you what the differences are with real items. Of course I will put all names of donaters on this site, and if you have a website I will post it as well. After I'm done making pictures of the fake items I will either do something funny with them and film it (e.g burn) or I'll give it to poor kids. So either way, it's all good and I'm not all about money. Thanks.

1 GENERAL BATHING APE INFORMATION

(1.1) Buy Bathing Ape Information

If you're about to buy a Bathing Ape item and don't want to be fooled. Here are a few tips that WILL help you.

#1 The Price

This is the first thing to look at. If you're looking for a new Bape hoodie and the price seems to be too good to be true, STAY AWAY! If you see a new Bape T-shirt for $40 or a hoody for $150, stay away! Impossible! Most real hoodies start at around $300, and then I'm talking about the cheap ones!

#2 Sellers Other Items/ Feedback

This is for the people that want to buy stuff from sites like eBay. If you see a T-shirt that looks alright, check his other items. Most of the times these fake sellers, sell loads of fake goods, with again, prices that are too good to be true. Also check their feedback. It's better to only check the NEGATIVE ones. If there's loads of negative feedback saying his/her stuff isn't authentic, leave it! But don't use it as only reason to convince yourself on buying or not!

#3 The Item Itself

What about the item itself? Is it one of those hoodies you see on eBay 1000 times, for a low price? This means it's being faked a lot and the chance is big the auction your looking at is fake as well. Check step 1 and 2.

#4 Sizechart

Some fake sellers post a sizechart with their auction. Most of the times these T-shirts have a size of 32" neck to bottom for a Medium while it should be around 27" on real Bape T-shirts. Some of these sellers also sell Bape items in size XXXL, XXXXL or even higher, while these never get produced by BAPE!

#5 Print & Shirt

The cheap print and shirt quality is what makes these fakes even cheaper. The prints are very vague most of the times and mostly offset and smaller or bigger than the original version. The colour of the shirt also tells a lot. Almost all Bathing Ape shirts are being made in BLACK and/or WHITE. If you see a Bape shirt for sale in a different colour it's probably fake. So if you see fancy Bape shirts in pink, green, red etc. stay away!

#6 SPEAK UP!

If an auction is unclear to you, speak up! Ask for pictures and information. This way you can find out whether this guy knows something about it or not. Always ask pictures of tags (sleeve and neck), bag and maybe a picture of the zipper.

So if you're unsure about an item, always ask!

#7 Payment

People who don't give a sh!t about their customers usually don't accept payments by PayPal. They ask you to pay via MoneyBookers or WesternUnion. Once again, this point is not one to use as only reason not to buy a product. Check the other points as well!

#8 Tags 'n Bag

The tags and bag that come with the shirt tells a lot! Check the other points of this chapter to read all about it!

(1.2) Sleeve Tag

Images speak louder than words. So click the image bellow to check. The tag with the yellow border is the ONLY real one in the image!

Points to think about while checking a Bape sleeve tag.

#1 Stitching Line

The stitching line. I think the picture says enough. Should be a nice straight white line. As you see on the fake tags, it's crap.

#2 Shape of the Apehead

The shape of the apehead is actually pretty detailed. If looks like a square or something it's fake. Also if the border of it is too smooth, it's fake! Check the real tag with first fake one!

#3 ®

® Registered - tag on the left side? I don't think so! It should always be on the right side.

#4 Total crap

Black stitching, ape face looks like crap, as you can see, it's easy to spot fakes!

If you still can't see the difference, here's another clear picture of a real Bathing Ape Sleeve Tag.

PICTURE OF A REAL SLEEVE-TAG [ MIRROR ]

A lot of Bape shirts come with the following necktag. Check the picture below if this helps you in your case. If not check the specific Bape T-shirt pages.

(1.3) Neck Tags

There are 2 kinds of neck labels we see most of the times on Bathing Ape shirts. Let's compare the real and fake ones:

And below a few examplen of VERY bad fakes:

I have no idea what the guys of the following neck tags were thinking, but it looks like crap. Wrong colour, loads of text there shouldn't be and of course we thank you for your no COMPOTITION!

And now the other tag:

The image above is the real neck tag. As you can see there's a vertically stitched line on the left and right side, which is missing on most of the fakes one. The neck tag is pretty heavy. The fake ones are thin and really flexible.

The tag has a little Bape head inside which can only be seen with blacklight, so not really useful.

Some of the VERY old hand printed shirts have the following neck tags (but believe me, they are very rare!).

(1.4) Product Tags/ Cards

Sometimes your Bathing Ape product might come with some tags attached to it.

NOTICE: It doesn't have to be fake if it doesn't come with these tags!

If it DOES come with tags. The REAL tags should look something like this:

Click to see the full-sized image!

Now let's check out the FAKE tags:

Of course the attachment of this tag to the hoodie is all wrong. As you could see on the REAL pictures, they come with a brown cord and not with something like this.

Another fake tag. First of all the material looks very cheap. Normally it's pretty thick carton, this just looks like paper (see the wrinkles for example). Then the white rectangle with the "code" in it; not right!

I can and will keep it short on this one: parts in ape face are too yellow!

The worst Bathing Ape fake shirts come with the tag as seen on the picture above. They mostly cost around $15. Just leave them.

(1.5) Product Bag

The product bag is another thing that makes you able to check if your product is authentic.

The following pics are from an authentic BAPE bag:

Fake and Real Bape Hoody Bag

(1.6) General About Bathing Ape Hoodies

Of course every BAPE hoody has it's own design and it's own way to find out if it's real or fake. However, most hoodies have similair things to check if they're real or fake. The following images will really help you on this.

Hoody Inside:

Neck Tag:

Of course there are different types of fakes and the neck tags can differ. As you can see on the image above the one on the left is all wrong. The font and neck tag too big. The stitching looks crappy and goes straight through the ®. The size tag attached to it is wrong as well.

On the image below you will see the back of the size-tags of both neck tags. The real one is much more detailed and looks more clear.

Zipper:

There are zippers around that look quite much like the real one, however the one I took a photo of looks like sh!t.

The How-To-Wash Tag:

This tag can be located on the left inside of the hoody (near the bottom). Compare the real to the fake one. The way it's stichted to the hoody is really different. The fake hoody only had one tag! It didn't have the tag with "NOTE BEFORHAND THAT...". Of course you should still be aware of better fakes, I'm sure some fakes DOES have this tag as well!

The font is a little different as well.. check "MADE IN JAPAN" on both tags!

When you flip the tags open, this is what you get:
